Leading the transformation of a greenfield university campus in Western Sydney.
Bureau Veritas has been a long-term advisor and partner to Western Sydney University (WSU) since the early 2000s, providing strategic advisory services and development advice for its campuses across Western Sydney.
WSU has been embarking on a large-scale transformation initiative called Western Growth, which involves the university in partnership with Bureau Veritas crystallising the vision, purpose and development intent of its extensive campus network.
Western Sydney University’s Werrington campus redevelopment is a major city co-creating project and is a part of its Western Growth strategy. The transformed campus allows for a thriving, mixed-use precinct that provides new housing, more than 18 hectares of open space, and a lively cultural, arts and heritage quarter. The project also includes the creation of a ‘living laboratory’ for education, research, innovation, social connection, sustainability and exploration.
Bureau Veritas provided strategic advice and project delivery services for the masterplanning, market feasibility analysis, and development strategy phases of the project. Our team also managed the preparation of the Planning Proposal and, in partnership with WSU, consulted with local and state government stakeholders to ensure the campus masterplan met the future housing and employment needs of the community.
In 2022, our team brought the Werrington campus redevelopment opportunity to market and selected a major institutional proponent as the delivery partner through a competitive two-stage process.
Bureau Veritas also provided strategic advice and project management services for WSU on their Milperra redevelopment and Westmead redevelopment projects, and have assisted in the identification of new sites to expand WSU's education and research function as part of Western Growth.
