Queanbeyan Civic & Cultural Precinct

Queanbeyan Civic & Cultural Precinct

Connecting culture and community within a landmark civic building.

Within easy reach of Canberra and the Snowy Mountains, Queanbeyan is a regional destination with deep arts, heritage and cultural roots. As part of its CBD Transformation Strategy, Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council created a cultural and civic precinct to rejuvenate the CBD and attract more people to the city centre.

The new precinct has a strong focus on cultural events and community use in the Canberra region. Designed as a landmark building, two towers was built to connect to the existing Bicentennial Hall and provide improved access to the Q Theatre.

Bureau Veritas was appointed as Project Manager to oversee the design and construction of the new major cultural and civic precinct which included more than 10,000 sqm of commercial and retail space. Visitors to the precinct will enjoy a new library, public domain for civic events, conference meeting rooms and facilities. The design included a new head office for council staff, basement car parking, as well as commercial lettable spaces for new initiatives like smart hubs and space for NSW Government offices.

Note: APP Corporation Pty Limited (The APP Group) was initially contracted for this project. The APP Group was acquired by Bureau Veritas in December 2024.
