Repurposing a hidden gem at Sydney Olympic Park.
The Pippita Rail Trail occupies a closed three-kilometre rail line which once serviced the state brickworks, abattoirs and Homebush saleyards. As part of Cumberland City Council’s long term strategic vision, the trail is to be redeveloped as an active transport link between Lidcombe and Sydney Olympic Park.
The Pippita Rail Trail provides a high-quality active transport link that will facilitate safe walking and cycling routes and green spaces along the way with significant references to the locality’s history.
Bureau Veritas worked with Place Design Group as Planning Lead for the project, providing advisory services and informing its planning assessment.
The project was funded under the State Government’s ‘Get Active Program’.
Note: APP Corporation Pty Limited (The APP Group) was initially contracted for this project. The APP Group was acquired by Bureau Veritas in December 2024.
