Designing a facility to help people overcome addiction with the support of their family.
Odyssey House New South Wales began in 1977 as a rehabilitation service for people with addiction to drugs or alcohol. Since then, Odyssey House has helped more than 35,000 people turn their lives around and now offers a range of alcohol and drug counselling, mental health services and family and support programs in Sydney.
As a community partner of Odyssey House, Bureau Veritas contributed project design and delivery services towards the development of a new $4.5 million family recovery centre. The centre is designed to provide clients with a place for parents and their young children to live together as they go through recovery programs.
The new Odyssey Family Recovery Centre provides a home environment where parents can maintain care of their young children during their recovery as they develop skills to maintain a safe and healthy family. The new facility is one of a handful of rehabilitation centres in Australia that allows people to undertake treatment while their young children live with them.
Note: APP Corporation Pty Limited (The APP Group) was initially contracted for this project. The APP Group was acquired by Bureau Veritas in December 2024.
