Delivering high-quality living options for university students in Newcastle.
The University of Newcastle is undertaking a transformative initiative to expand and modernise its student accommodation portfolio in response to rising enrolments and evolving expectations for campus living. Recognising the critical role that high-quality housing plays in student wellbeing and academic success, the University of Newcastle is developing a new facility at the Callaghan Campus.
The proposed vertical accommodation building will be located over the existing Bernie Curran Oval carpark and vegetation area, offering approximately 450 beds across a mix of single studios and cluster apartments. The building will also include communal student spaces, and essential amenities.
Bureau Veritas has been engaged as project manager to oversee the development, providing services across the planning and delivery phases. Our team are working closely with the University of Newcastle from concept through to implementation, providing design management services, stakeholder and contractor engagement to ensure construction strategies align with the University’s broader campus vision.
The project will deliver significant value by increasing on-campus housing capacity, enhancing the student experience, and supporting academic success through vibrant, community-focused living environments. The Callaghan Student Accommodation development reflects the University of Newcastle’s strategic commitment to student-centred growth and innovation and demonstrate Bureau Veritas’ continued leadership in delivering impactful, future-ready infrastructure.
