Pacific Fair

Pacific Fair

Managing a major transformation for the Gold Coast’s largest retail precinct.

Pacific Fair is the largest retail precinct on the Gold Coast and following a major redevelopment in 2016, was the fourth largest in Australia coming in at 155,000sqm. The redevelopment was part of the growing trend to create a destination retail precinct, to attract more shoppers to spend longer onsite. Once complete, Pacific Fair would include more than 420 shops, restaurants and entertainment facilities all under the one roof.

Bureau Veritas was engaged by AMP Capital to project manage the challenging construction and staged program, managing many stakeholders and bringing expertise in managing and complying with the extensive project documentation and reports. This included managing the demolition and refurbishment of two-thirds of the existing precinct, intensive tenant coordination and superintendent services. The redevelopment opened in 2016 after two-and-a-half years and became an instant favourite with Gold Coast shoppers.

According to the Gold Coast Bulletin and their source at Colliers in Broadbeach, a number of development projects were given impetus by or were begun following the refurbishment of Pacific Fair, including the Beach Apartments, Oasis Shopping Centre and a new hotel at The Star. The project also saw a sizeable shift in shopper numbers from the nearby Robina Town Centre to shop at Pacific Fair.

Note: APP Corporation Pty Limited (The APP Group) was initially contracted for this project. The APP Group was acquired by Bureau Veritas in December 2024.
