Newcastle Knights Centre of Excellence
Newcastle Knights Centre of Excellence, the envy of sporting centres across Australia.
The rugby league Centre of Excellence (CoE) for the Newcastle Knights is a $20 million project delivered under the funding agreement between NSW Office of Sport and the Knights owners, Wests Group. Located on a 7-ha site at District Park in Newcastle, it provides a world class rugby league training facility with additional facilities for community use.
Spanning 3,500m2 on a single level, the CoE features:
- Training facilities, including a gymnasium with a designated wrestling area, associated hydration area, supplement store, lap pool, sauna and theatre
- General player facilities
- Ancillary injury management and rehabilitation facilities, including physio, rehab clinic and doctor’s office
- Half-size concrete basketball court
Bureau Veritas was appointed as Project Manager and Client Representative in mid-2020 to manage a six-week design period to develop a modified design based on what had been submitted to Council to allow the design and construct tender documents to be issued.
Note: APP Corporation Pty Limited (The APP Group) was initially contracted for this project. The APP Group was acquired by Bureau Veritas in December 2024.
