Newcastle High School Redevelopment

Ensuring growing communities get access to a world class public education.

The NSW Government’s plan is to rebuild public education by delivering a record education funding within the NSW Budget, including $9 billion for new and upgraded schools.

As part of this plan, Newcastle High School is currently under construction and will be delivering new infrastructure to the school to support future growth. The redevelopment consists of:

  • A new three-storey learning hub with a library, canteen and covered outdoor learning area (COLA), facilities for specialist support classes, general classrooms, hospitality classrooms and science labs
  • A new multipurpose facility with gymnasium, stage, fitness lab, modern classrooms, outdoor courts and end of trip facilities, and
  • A new student hub within existing Building A and student entry from Parkway Avenue.

Bureau Veritas Buildings and Infrastructure (formerly The APP Group) was engaged to provide Project Management services for this project. Our team has been working closely with the school community, delivery partners and key stakeholders to ensure the project progresses smoothly and aligns with operational, educational and community needs.

The new Learning Hub and multipurpose facility has been completed and officially opened in November 2025. The remaining refurbishment works, demolition, and external and landscaping works are scheduled to be completed by mid-2026. This project is currently on track to be delivered within budget.
