Newcastle Basketball Stadium

The Basketball Association of Newcastle Limited is one of the most successful associations in Australia and supports the regional development of players from the electorates of Lake Macquarie, Swansea, Newcastle, Charlestown, Wallsend, and Port Stephens. Having outgrown their current facilities, a new complex is required to support further growth and opportunities for the association and aspiring players.  

The proposed site for the facility is located on Wallarah and Blackley Ovals in New Lambton, adjacent to the Hunter Sports and Entertainment Precinct. The project aims to be delivered in multiple stages and will be subject to Government funding agreements.

Bureau Veritas was engaged for project delivery services for Stage 1 - Concept Design through to Development Application submission. Stage 1 of the development included design and construction of a new basketball complex to facilitate approximately six basketball courts, with a range of standard amenities and support spaces. This facility has allowed for Newcastle to have a team in the Women’s National Basketball League.

Note: APP Corporation Pty Limited (The APP Group) was initially contracted for this project. The APP Group was acquired by Bureau Veritas in December 2024.
