Gold Coast Light Rail Stage 3
Improving transport connectivity between Broadbeach South and Burleigh Heads.
Bureau Veritas, in joint venture with Arcadis, was appointed as Independent Verifier and Independent Certifier (IV/IC) for the Gold Coast Light Rail Stage 3 project, which is funded by the Queensland Government in partnership with the Australian Government and City of Gold Coast.
The third stage of the Gold Coast Light Rail project extends the line 6.7 kilometres from Broadbeach South station to Burleigh Heads, delivering eight new light rail stations and five new trams.
As the IV/IC, Bureau Veritas and Arcadis provided design, construction, testing and commissioning, and completion document reviews, construction surveillance, witnessing of T&C activities and verification and certification of the project works.
The Gold Coast Light Rail project is a critical piece of the infrastructure puzzle for Queensland, responding to population growth and connecting the community with employment, hospitals, education facilities, shopping centres and recreational hubs. The Queensland Government appointed GoldlinQ to undertake procurement for Stage 3 in December 2019, and John Holland was named as the Design and Construction Contractor in 2020 before construction started by mid-2021.
Stage 3 passenger services commenced on 9 August 2026, with all three sections of the Gold Coast Light Rail project now in operation.
