Epworth Eastern Hospital Redevelopment

Epworth Eastern Hospital is the local healthcare facility servicing the community in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs. With the hospital continuously reaching maximum capacity, NorthWest Healthcare and Epworth Eastern Healthcare invested $140 million to equip the facility with additional operating theatres, hospital beds and consulting suites.  

The redevelopment included the construction of a 14-storey tower and the demolition of existing apartment blocks. The new tower houses five new operating theatres, non-clinical and plant levels, three levels of inpatient beds, seven levels of consulting suites and a three-level basement car park.   

Bureau Veritas was engaged to provide strategy, project delivery and superintendent services for the Epworth Eastern Hospital redevelopment. The role covers leading the consultant team, engaging with hospital stakeholders, and developing a robust procurement strategy. 

Note: APP Corporation Pty Limited (The APP Group) was initially contracted for this project. The APP Group was acquired by Bureau Veritas in December 2024.
